Spanish Property
Our European Property Department will be delighted to represent you on your Spanish property purchase.
James Raskin in our Kingswood Office has more than 15 years experience in this field and is a fluent Spanish speaker. We also have our own resident notary public, Gloria Ryden, based in our Clifton office.
Various fixed price conveyancing packages are available or legal advice on an hourly basis on any particular aspect of Spanish law. If we are unable to deal with the particular problem, or need something to be undertaken, we have a number of firms in the region with whom we have regular contact who can advise on specific queries, and take any necessary action.
When it comes to buying that castle in Spain, we can give you information on the Spanish system for buying property, which is very different from the English system. We will also guide you through the system, and explain the procedure. You tell us how much involvement you would like us to have.
You also need to be aware of the implications of buying a property in Spain on your tax position. As the Spanish laws on what you can do with the property when you die are different from those in this country, you should actively consider making specific provision in a will. You will find a separate information sheet about that in this pack.
If you have any queries about this, or indeed about any other matter, please do not hesitate to contact us.
